The £19, 000-a-year prep school has gained planning consent, alongside South London developer Avanton, to transform the Royal Academy of Dance headquarters into Thomas's Battersea Square. The new, coeducational school - located at 36 Battersea Square - for students aged 11 to 18, has already been dubbed 'South London's Eton' and should be operational by late 2022. While it's expected Prince George, seven, will attend Eton, as his father and Prince Harry did, the new school could be a future option for Princess Charlotte, five. Thoma's Battersea currently only caters for students until the age of 13. Thomas's Battersea, which counts Prince George and Princess Charlotte as pupils, has been given the green light to build a brand new senior school. It will include science laboratories, break-out spaces, a study centre, a double height assembly and performance hall, cafeteria and school dining hall and a large central atrium. CGI images released in August offered a look at the contemporary designs, showing a school which almost resembles flats - featuring a stunning glass entrance hall and classrooms surrounding a spacious courtyard. Thomas's made the decision to become an all-through school after parents expressed a keen desire to keep their children within the popular independent school group.
