I ended up finishing the semester with a 3. 87 GPA (stupid 304). I decided to take a leave of absence for this spring to reevaluate my goals. The more research that I've done and the experience of having been a student, the more I realize coming to USC was a mistake (or not the best decision for me). I'm sure that the Trojan Family is great and all, but I don't believe it's what everyone hypes it up to be, especially as a person of color and first gen college student. I feel like I can be more success at a less competitive school. Admissions, Marshall staff, and professors were no "better" than what I had at my CC. I'd even argue that I had better profs and counselors, and staff at my CC as they were much more empathetic, encouraging, and willing to go out of their way to help me with internships and whatever I was dealing with. The classes were even way smaller at CC so I profs could actually spend more than 10 minutes after class talking to students. Marshall staff and profs were nice, but they weren't as "in it" for students.
